The Ivy Canterbury Brasserie

On Tuesday 1st October, we were delighted that Cavendish Brass was invited to join the parade through the heart of Canterbury to announce the official opening of the Ivy Canterbury Brasserie, which opens its doors on the 29th October. We thoroughly enjoyed being part of the parade showing our fabulous brass quartet.

The Ivy Collection is known for its stylish venues and signature elegance, so we chose some traditional yet uplifting marches to accompany Town Crier Jane Smith as we paraded down the High Street to the enjoyment of the locals who were out and about for their lunchtime break.

We decided to change our lineup from 4 trumpets, opting instead for a brass quartet to really boost the richness of the sound. Our new lineup included 2 trumpets, French horn, and euphonium, which added depth and texture to the music, fitting perfectly with the celebratory atmosphere of the event. The parade was a great success, with onlookers smiling and applauding as we performed pieces such as “Liberty Bell” by John Philip Sousa and “Colonel Bogey March” by Kenneth Alford.

Cavendish Brass was honoured to be part of such a special occasion, contributing to the fanfare of the Ivy Canterbury Brasserie’s grand opening – quite literally, as after our procession through the city we arrived at our final destination outside the soon-to-be Ivy and there played a fanfare for Town Crier Jane’s announcement. We look forward to more opportunities like this where we can bring our brass sound to the community and beyond.

Harry McMillan, Cavendish Brass (Dave Hopkin, Emily Wiggins, Kate Boden, Christopher Barrett), Town Crier Jane Smith and General Manager Diogo Bolan announce the official opening date of The Ivy Canterbury Brasserie.
