Joseph Chadwick

Joseph was born in Oxford, and began his musical education on the piano, recorder and classical guitar at the age of seven. A year later, he joined the youth section of the Wantage Silver Band on cornet, and quickly progressed to become the principal cornet of their ‘A’ band by the time he was 14. Joseph performed and recorded a wide range of brass repertoire with the Wantage Silver Band, at the same time as travelling around the UK with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. He was awarded the DipABRSM for advanced performance and was granted an entrance scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Whilst at the Academy, Joseph performed with the RAM Symphony Orchestra, Baroque Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, and various other ensembles. He has taken part in masterclasses by Leonard Candelaria, Jan Kagarice, and James Watson, and has also had the opportunity to play in the LSO side-by-side scheme. Joseph studied trumpet with Paul Archibald, James Watson, Robert Farley, Howard Snell, Rod Franks, and Mark David. He also studied baroque trumpet with Robert Farley and John Hutchins.

Joseph holds BMus and MMus degrees from the University of London, the LRAM teaching diploma, and works as a freelance trumpeter and instrumental teacher.
